INCORRECT FUEL GAUGE READING

ESTEEMS WITH ONBOARD REFUELING VAPOR RECOVERY (ORVR)

CONDITION:
When fuel tank is full the dash fuel gauge reads 1/3 tank or less.
CAUSE:
Fuel tank sending unit float arm hung up on fuel pump fuel return tube.
CORRECTION:
Install Fuel Hose Holder on the fuel pump sending unit housing as shown in this bulletin.
AFFECTED VEHICLES:
1999 MY 1.8 liter Esteems and all 2000MY Esteem vehicles.
PART INFORMATION:
1.
Remove the fuel tank and fuel gauge sending unit as outlined in Section 6C of the 1999/2000 Esteem Service Manual 1600/1800 Volume 2 of 2,
Engine (P/N 99500-60G10-33E).
The pictures show views of the fuel pump fuel return tube contacting the float level arm.
