Turn the switch 90 degrees in either direction and then remove the switch from the brake pedal bracket hole.

Prepare a new brake light switch for installation.
5.
The new switch has only two terminals and replaces any switch that may have four terminals.
6.
Pull out the switch plunger to its maximum extension. This will take some force.
