Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor on-Vehicle Inspection

Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor On-Vehicle Inspection

1. Turn off ignition switch.
2. Disconnect CMP sensor connector.
3. Turn ignition switch to ON position and check that voltage of CMP sensor connector (vehicle side) between terminals "1" and "2" is 4 - 6 V.

If faulty condition is found, check ECM power supply circuit, ECM ground circuit, wire harness between ECM and CMP sensor and connections.

4. Check that CMP sensor signal is outputted properly.  See: Computers and Control Systems/Engine Control Module/Testing and Inspection/Pinout
