Tire Pressure Sensor: Service and Repair
Tire and/or Tire Pressure Sensor (If Equipped) Mounting and Dismounting
WARNING:
Do not stand over tire when inflating. Bead may break when bead snaps over rim's safety hump and cause serious personal injury.
Do not exceed 330 kPa (48 psi) pressure when inflating. If 330 kPa (48 psi) pressure will not seat beads, deflate, re-lubricate and reinflate.
Over inflation may cause bead to break and cause serious personal injury.
CAUTION:

When replacing tire of TPMS equipped vehicle, and be sure to drop tire pressure sensor first into tire before detaching tire bead from
wheel. Removing tire from wheel without removing tire pressure sensor may cause damage to tire pressure sensor.

When replacing tire of TPMS equipped vehicle, check to make sure that tire size is as specified in the "Tire Placard". If size of installed
tire is out of specification, tire pressure sensor may be broken because of its contact of tire bead.

Do not use hand tools or tire irons alone to change tires as they may damage tire beads or wheel rim.

Rim bead seats should be cleaned with wire brush or coarse steel wool to remove lubricants, old rubber and light rust. Before mounting
or dismounting tire, bead area should be well lubricated with approved tire lubricant.

After mounting, inflate 300 kPa (44 psi) so that beads are completely seated. Then adjust pressure to specified shown in the tire placard.

Valve caps should be kept on valves to keep dust and water out.

Be careful not to apply impact to tire pressure sensor when handling. If tire pressure sensor is exposed to an impact, sensor may not
function properly.
NOTE:

After replacing tire pressure sensor of TPMS equipped vehicle, be sure to register ID code of tire pressure sensor into TPMS control module. If it
is not registered, low tire pressure warning light will flash even if tire inflation pressure is adjusted to the specified value.
1) Hoist vehicle and remove wheel.
2) Release air from tire by removing valve core (1).
3) Dismount tire and tire pressure sensor (if equipped) from wheel as follows.
For wheel with tire pressure sensor:
1. Drop tire pressure sensor (2) into the tire by removing tire pressure sensor mounting nut (3) from wheel.
2. Dismount tire using tire changing machine. Follow equipment manufacturer's instructions.
3. Take tire pressure sensor from tire.
