Air/Fuel Mixture: Adjustments

    Idle mixture adjusting screw is recessed into the throttle body and blocked by a pin to prevent tampering. If mixture adjustment is necessary, pin must
be removed as outlined under ``Adjusting Screw Pin Removal'' in ``Carburetor'' section. Prior to adjusting idle mixture, ensure that ignition timing and
valve lash are adjusted to specifications.

Ensure that carburetor is properly installed and connect suitable tachometer and CO tester following manufacturer's instructions.

Start engine and run until it reaches normal operating temperature.

3.

Place transmission selector in neutral, block wheels, and ensure that curb idle speed is within specifications.

4.

Disconnect WOTS lead wire at coupler.

5.

Start engine and allow to reach normal operating temperature, and adjust idle speed to specification by turning idle speed adjusting screw in or out.

6.

Adjust CO concentration to 1.5-4.5% by either tightening or loosening idle mixture adjusting screw. Readjust idle speed to specification.

7.

If CO concentration is not as specified, repeats steps 5 and 6.

8.

Connect WOTS lead wire, then run engine at 2,000 RPM for 30 seconds.

9.

Engine idling speed should be 750-850 Rpm and CO concentration less than 0.5%.

10.

Stop engine and remove test equipment. Install new pin in throttle body, driving pin into place with suitable drift.
