1.

Shift selector lever to ``N,'' then fix shift switch with groove in switch and match mark on shaft aligned, Fig. 12.

2.

Ensure that engine starts in ``N'' and ``P,'' but does not start in ``D,'' ``2,'' ``L'' or ``R,'' and that back-up lamps illuminate in ``R.''

If a faulty condition cannot be corrected by adjustment, disconnect shift switch coupler and check for continuity by moving selector as shown in 
Fig. 13.
