Torque Converter Clutch Relay: Testing and Inspection
Lock-Up Relay Control Circuit
SYSTEM INSPECTION
IMPORTANT NOTES:

This will verify that the ECM is actually energizing the lock-up relay during driving.
^
This inspection requires two people to perform.
^
Use a level road for inspection.
^
When maintaining speed above 42 mph, be sure to keep throttle valve opening less than 70% (light throttle).

Remove ECM.

Warm engine to operating temperature.
Checking Lock-Up Relay Control Circuit

Connect voltmeter between ECM terminal "A11" and ground.

While stopped, shift selector to "D" range and release brake pedal. CAR WILL MOVE!
VOLTAGE AT ECM
10 - 14 VDC

Increase speed to 42 mph (76 km/h) and maintain speed for 4 seconds or more.
VOLTAGE AT ECM
0 - 1 VDC
