Sidekick 4 Door 4WD L4-1.8L DOHC MFI 16V (1996)
A security system is not available for the 1995-1996 Swift or the 1995-1996 Esteem models. The new security system (p/n 9998O-46O61) will include
the following changes from the earlier system:
^
The controller is preset in the manual mode;
^
the yellow connector in the gray trigger wire is removed from the harness; and
^
the blue connector for the power door lock circuit (if equipped) is a two-pin male connector with a new plug-in location in the vehicle wiring harness.
All other features are identical to the previous security system.
NOTE:
If the security system is completely inoperative, check the inline fuses for the main alarm unit first. Also, each time the main alarm unit or remote
transmitters are replaced, the alarm will have to be re-programmed.
Dealer Test Procedure
SUZUKI ALARM SYSTEM
BEFORE TEST
1.
Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position.
2.
Turn the valet switch to the "OFF" position (white dot on switch is out).
3.
Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position.
ARM/DISARM TEST
1.
Press the button on the remote transmitter to arm the system. The following should occur:
^
siren chirps once;
-
If not, refer to Diagnostic Guide symptom # 1 or # 3.
^
parking lights will flash once;
-
If not, refer to Diagnostic Guide symptom # 1.
^
doors will lock (equipped with power door locks);
-
If not, refer to Diagnostic Guide symptom # 8.
^
LED starts flashing slowly;
-
If not, refer to Diagnostic Guide symptom # 6.
2.
Press the button on the remote transmitter to disarm the alarm. The following should occur:
^
siren will chirp twice;
^
parking lights will flash twice;
^
doors will unlock (if equipped with power door locks);
^
LED starts to flash rapidly, indicating that alarm will re-arm itself in 30 seconds.
