Sidekick 4 Door 4WD L4-1.8L DOHC MFI 16V (1996)
If the above do not happen:
(1) check for a break in the light blue loop wire located on the side of the alarm controller;
(2) check the pin switch wire and connectors;
(3) check the door pin switches.
After an additional 10 seconds,
^
doors lock (if equipped with power door locks).
4.
Check the shock sensor by kicking a tire. The following should occur:
^
siren will go off;
-
if not, refer to Diagnostic Guide symptom # 3.
^
parking lights will flash continuously;
-
if the sensor is too sensitive or insensitive, refer to Diagnostic Guide symptom # 4 and # 5.
5.
Press the button on the remote transmitter to disarm the system. The following should occur:
^
siren will shut off;
^
parking lights will flash four times;
^
siren will chirp four times;
LED starts to flash rapidly, indicating that alarm will re-arm itself in 30 seconds.
DOOR TRIGGER TEST
1.
Press the button on the remote transmitter to arm the system.
2.
Wait for 5 seconds.
3.
Open the rear door slowly to avoid engagement of the shock sensor. The following should occur:
^
siren will go off;
^
parking lights will flash continuously.
If the above do not happen:
(1) check for a break in the light blue loop wire located on the side of the alarm controller;
(2) check the pin switch wire and connectors;
(3) check the door pin switches.
4.
Press the button on the remote transmitter to disarm the system. The following should occur:
^
siren will stop;
^
siren will chirp four times;
^
parking lights will flash four times;
LED starts to flash rapidly, indicating that alarm will re-arm itself in 30 seconds.
PANIC AND AUTO RE-ARMING TEST
NOTE:
Passive arming is for 1994-1995 vehicles only. If you desire passive arming in a 1996 alarm system, connect the blue loop wires together, located on
the side of the alarm controller.
