Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

1.

Release fuel system pressure as follows: 

a. Place transmission gear shift lever in Neutral, set parking brake and block drive wheels.
b. Disconnect coupler A from control relay, Fig. 128.
c. Remove fuel filler cap to release fuel tank vapor pressure, then reinstall cap.
d. Start engine and run till it stops for lack of fuel. Crank engine three times for about three seconds each time.

Disconnect battery ground cable, then fuel return hose and vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator.

Remove fuel pressure regulator from throttle body.

4.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Lubricate new O-ring with gasoline before installation.
b. Torque regulator screw to 2.5 ft. lbs.
c. Ensure no fuel leakage exists.
