Combination Switch: Service and Repair

CAUTION:  Do not turn contact coil (on combination switch) more than allowable number of turns (about two and a half turns from the center position
clockwise or counterclockwise respectively), or coil will break.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect negative battery cable at battery terminal.
2. Disable air bag system. Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts.
3. Remove steering wheel from steering column shaft. Refer to Steering and Suspension.

4. Remove hole cover and knee bolster panel.

5. Remove steering column cover screws (5 pieces).

NOTE:  Marked with *are standard screw. The rest are tapping screws.

6. Separate upper cover and lower cover, then remove then.
7. Loosen band for contact coil and combination switch wire harness, and disconnect its connectors.

8. Remove contact coil and combination switch assembly from steering column.
