Brake Pedal Assy: Testing and Inspection
Brake Pedal Travel Check
1. Start engine.
2. Depress brake pedal a few times.
3. Depress pedal with approximately 30 kg (66 lbs.) of pressure and measure pedal to wall clearance "c". The clearance "c" should be over 80 mm
(3.15 inch.)
4. If clearance "c" is less than 80 mm (3.15 in.), the most possible cause is, either the rear brake shoes are worn out beyond the limit or air is in lines.
Should clearance "c" remain less than 80 mm (3.15 in.) even after replacement of brake shoes and bleeding of the hydraulic system. See: Brake
Bleeding/Service and Repair Another possible, but infrequent cause, is a malfunction of the rear brake shoe adjusters or the booster push rod
length may be out of adjustment.
