Relief Valve (Flow Control Valve) and Spring Check the fluid passage and connector orifice for blockage or foreign material.

Check the sliding surface of the relief valve for wear and damage.

Check the free length of the relief valve spring. Free length: 

Standard

1.07 in. (27.2 mm)

Limit

0.96 in. (24.2 mm)

If the free length is out of specification, replace the spring.

Reassembly Procedure

To reassemble the power steering pump; Reverse the disassembly procedure noting the following items:

1.

Lubricate the oil seal lip with grease and the sliding surface of the shaft with power steering fluid.

2.

Insert the pulley shaft through the oil seal and into the pump body.
