1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.
2.
Remove timing belt as outlined under TIMING BELT & TENSIONER.
3.
On DOHC models, remove timing belt inside cover (rear side) and water pump belt adjusting arm, Fig. 62.
4.
On all models, remove water pump assembly, Fig. 63.
5.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Use new gasket for water pump to cylinder block.
b. Tighten all bolts to specifications.
c. Install rubber seal between water pump and oil pump and another between water pump and cylinder head, Fig. 63.
