Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair
1.
Place transmission in neutral on manual transmission models or park on automatic transmission models. Set parking brake and block drive wheels.
2.
On Swift, remove main fuse box cover (underhood) and remove water reservoir from its bracket. Detach main fuse box from body and disconnect
coupler from fuel pump relay.
3.
On Sidekick and Samurai, disconnect coupler from fuel pump relay (coupler and relay are located near ECM).
4.
On all models, remove fuel filler cap to release fuel vapor pressure in fuel tank and then install it.
5.
Start engine and allow to run until it stalls. Crank engine 2--3 times, about 3 seconds each time.
6.
Connect relay coupler and install any components previously removed.
