Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Service and Repair
Front Strut
Removal
1.
Raise and support vehicle. Allow front suspension to hang free.
2.
Remove wheels, then disconnect brake hose clip from strut bracket.
3.
Remove strut lower attaching bolts, then upper support nuts.
4.
Remove strut from vehicle.
Disassemble

Using spring compressor, compress spring until tension is released from upper spring seat. Tension is released when strut turns lightly with spring
held stationary.
2.
Remove strut nut, then disassemble strut, Fig. 2.
Assemble

1.
Spring should be compressed to a length of 9 inches (230 mm).
2.
Mate spring end with stepped part of lower spring seat.
