PRIOR TO 1991 MODELS
Noise occurs under light acceleration, at about 35 mph and/or about 65 mph. Test drive vehicle and note speeds at which noise occurs, then:
1.
Disconnect speedometer and test drive. If noise is gone, replace speedometer cable with P/N 34910-61B20. Test drive vehicle again after
installing new part to assure that noise is gone.
2.
If noise occurs about 35 mph, replace countershaft (P/N 24131-62020) and final gear (P/N 27511-62820) both must be replaced.
