Backing Plate: Service and Repair
Vehicles Without A Wheel Hub
REMOVAL
1. Remove brake drum.
2. Remove brake shoes.
3. Remove wheel cylinder.
4. Remove cable from brake back plate by squeezing parking brake cable stopper ring.
5. Remove brake back plate.
INSTALLATION
1. Apply water tight sealant ("A": Sealant 99000-31090) to mating surfaces of brake back plate and rear knuckle.
2. Install brake back plate and tighten back plate bolts to specified torque (a): 18 - 28 Nm (13.5 - 20.0 Lb-ft).
