Wheel Cylinder: Service and Repair
Installation

1. Apply water tight sealant ("A": Sealant 99000-31090) to joint seam of wheel cylinder and brake back plate. Then take off breather plug cap from

brake pipe and connect pipe to wheel cylinder just enough to prevent fluid from leaking.

2. Tighten wheel cylinder to brake back plate to specified torque (a): 7 - 11 Nm (5.5 - 7.5 ft. lbs.).
3. Torque flare nut of brake pipe to specification of (b): 14 - 18 Nm (10.5 - 13.0 ft. lbs.).
4. Install bleeder plug cap taken off from pipe back to bleeder plug.
5. Install brake shoes.  
6. Fill reservoir with brake fluid and bleed brake system. See: Brake Bleeding/Service and Repair 
7. Upon completion of all jobs, depress brake pedal with about 30 kg (66 Lbs.) load three to five times so as to obtain proper drum-to-shoe clearance.

Adjust parking brake cable.  

8. Install parking brake lever cover.
9. Install wheel and tighten wheel nuts to specified torque. 

10. Check to ensure that brake drum is free from dragging and proper braking is obtained. Then remove vehicle from hoist and perform brake test (foot

brake and parking brake).  

11. Check each installed part for oil leakage.
