Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair
Rear Suspension
Vehicles Not Equipped With Wheel Hub
REMOVAL
1. Hoist vehicle and remove wheel.
2. Remove spindle cap as shown (by hammering lightly at 3 locations around it so as not to deform or cause damage to seating part of cap).
3. Stake spindle nut and remove spindle nut and washer.
4. Release parking brake lever.
5. Remove parking brake lever cover and loosen parking brake cable locking nut.
6. Remove back plate plug attached to the back side of brake back plate so as to increase clearance between brake shoe and brake drum.
Insert a screwdriver into plug hole till its tip contacts shoe hold down spring and push screwdriver in the arrow direction.
7. Pull brake drum off by using special tools.
