Muffler: Service and Repair

REMOVAL 

1. Hoist vehicle.
2. Remove stabilizer bar with ball joints from lower arm.
3. Remove rear right mud flap, if equipped.
4. Remove muffler mounting bolts and muffler nuts.

5. Turn muffler counterclockwise to remove it and take it out from between body and suspension arm.

CAUTION:   When removing muffler, be careful not to cause any damage to fuel hose, fuel tank or bumper.

INSTALLATION 

For installation, reverse removal procedure and also refer to left figure.
When installing muffler, turn its tail part clockwise.

Four types of muffler mounting and exhaust pipe mounting are used. Refer to figure on Description and Operation for their correct installation.

Torque each bolt and nut as specified on Description and Operation.

Install stabilizer bar with ball joints to lower arm.

After installation, start engine and check each joint of exhaust system for leakage.
