Canister Vent Valve: Testing and Inspection
EVAP Canister Vent Valve Inspection
WARNING: Do not suck the air through valve. Fuel vapor inside valve is harmful.
1. For vehicle with ORVR system, detach canister bracket with EVAP canister from vehicle body and remove EVAP canister vent valve.
2. Disconnect coupler from EVAP canister vent valve.
3. Check resistance between 2 terminals of EVAP canister vent valve. If resistance is as specified, proceed to next step. If not, replace.
EVAP canister vent valve resistance
25 - 30 Ohm at 20 °C (68 °F)
4. For vehicle without ORVR system, disconnect vacuum hoses from EVAP canister.
5. With coupler disconnected, blow into hose (2). Air should come out of hose (1). If not, replace EVAP canister vent valve.
6. Connect 12 V-battery to EVAP canister vent valve terminals. In this state, blow hose (2).
Air should not come out of hose (1). If check result is not specified above, replace EVAP canister vent valve.
