SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN: V7, SERVICE STOP LAMP SWITCH FAILURE.

MODEL:
VITARA (CAMI BUILT 1.6 AND 2.0 LITER)

YEAR:
1999

CONDITION:
Rear stop lamps do not turn on when brake pedal is depressed and the automatic transmission shift lever (if equipped) will not shift out of the park
position with the brake pedal depressed.

CAUSE:
Silicon grease in the stop lamp switch can inhibit electrical current resulting in switch failure.

CORRECTION:
Replace the stop lamp switch as directed in this bulletin.

REVISION:
SEVENTH DIGITS OF THE LAST TWO VINs IN THE "AFFECTED VIN RANGE" SHOWN SHOULD BE "V".
