TORQUE CONVERTER INSTALLATION

MODEL:
SIDEKICK, SIDEKICK SPORT and X-90

YEAR:

CONDITION:
Replacement automatic transmission failure due to over torquing of correct torque converter bolts or use of incorrect bolts that are too long.

CAUSE:
Over torquing of automatic transmission bolts or using incorrect bolts that are too long causing internal dimpling of the TCC friction surface and TCC
material to be scraped off clogging the valve body passages.

CORRECTION:
Only use correct torque converter mounting bolts as listed in the parts catalogue or this bulletin and torque to the proper specifications with an accurate
torque wrench. Do not use any type of impact type tool to install the torque converter mounting bolts.

All Sidekick, Sidekick Sport after VIN JS3TD21V_T4102341~ and X-90 use:

Part Number # 09103-10286 (10X 13.5 mm) Bolt

Torque: 47.0 lb-ft (65 Nm, 6.5 kg-m)

All Sidekick Sport before VIN ~ JS3TD2V_T4102342 use:

Part Number # 09137-08005 (8 X 11 mm) Bolt

Torque: 11.0 lb-ft (15 Nm, 1.5 kg-m)
