To improve the appearance of the 4Runner Running Board, use the following step by step procedures to modify the position of the Running Board and
or add the retaining clips to the end caps.
MODEL APPLICATION: 1990 4Runner 2 and 4 door versions
REPAIR (INSTALLATION) PROCEDURE:
CONDITION # 1:
A gap between the end cap and the face of the
running board is caused when the Carat (securing tab) pops out when weight is applied on the surface of the step pad.
CAUSE:
The end cap Carat (securing tab) does not have enough retention to keep it securely fastened in the retention slot in the step
assembly.
CORRECTION:
Install the internal tooth lock ring on the end cap Carat after the Carat has been inserted in the running board receiving slot
(see detailed instructions below).
CONDITION # 2:
The horizontal surface of the plastic step pad has a
distorted (wavy) appearance.
