4 Runner 2WD L4-2693cc 2.7L DOHC MFI (1997)
1. Remove the drive belt, doing the following.
a. Loosen the power steering idle pulley set bolt.
b. Loosen the belt adjusting bolt.
2. Using a (24 mm) spanner to hold the pressure port union, remove the union bolt and two gaskets, then disconnect the pressure feed tube.
3. Disconnect the return hose.
NOTE: Take care not to spill fluid on the drive belt.
4. Remove the two pump assembly set bolts, then remove the power steering vane pump assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the power steering vane pump assembly, then tighten the two pump assembly set bolts to 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.).
2. Connect the return hose.
3. Connect the pressure feed tube then tighten the union bolt with a new gasket 46 Nm (34 ft. lbs.).
NOTE: Make sure the stopper of the tube is touching the PS pump body as shown, then torque the union bolt.
4. Install the drive belt by doing the following.
a. Tightening the belt adjusting bolt and adjust drive belt tension.
b. Tighten the power steering idle pulley set nut to 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.).
5. Bleed the power steering system.
