Using the 09616 - 00010 SST and a torque wrench, tighten the cap until the preload is within specification. The Preload (turning) is 0.5-1.6
Nm (4.3-14.3 inch lbs.).
12. Install the rack guide spring cap lock nut, doing these steps
a. Apply Part No.0883-00080, THREE BOND 1344, LOCTITE 242 or equivalent sealant to two or three threads of the nut.
b. Holding the rack guide spring cap rotating, and using the 09922 - 10010 SST, tighten the nut to 51 Nm (38 ft. lbs.).
NOTE:

Use the 09922-10010 SST in the direction shown in the illustration.

Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 345 mm (13.58 inch).
c. Recheck the total preload. The Preload (turning) should be 0.5-1.7 Nm (4.1-14.9 inch lbs.).
d. Remove the right and left hand rack ends.
13. Install the right and left hand claw washers and rack ends.
a. Install a new washer, and temporarily tighten the rack end.
NOTE: Align the claws of the washer with the steering rack grooves.
b. Using a spanner to hold the steering rack steady, and using the 09922-10010 SST, tighten the rack end to 76 Nm (56 ft. lbs.)

Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 345 mm (13.58 inch).
