INSPECT CYLINDER HEAD FOR FLATNESS.
(a).
Using a precision straight edge and feeler gauge, measure the surfaces contacting the cylinder block and the manifolds for warpage.
* NOTE:
WHEN MACHINING CYLINDER HEAD AND BLOCK THE COMBINED AMOUNT OF MATERIAL REMOVED MUST NOT EXCEED 0.25
mm (0.010 in).

MEASURE CYLINDER BLOCK CONTACT SURFACES FOR DEPTH OF EROSION.
a).
Using a dial indicator, measure the depth of erosion of the surfaces contacting the cylinder head gasket.
