Evaporator Temperature Sensor / Switch: Testing and Inspection

INSPECT EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR

a. Remove these parts: 

1. Front door scuff plate RH
2. Cowl side trim RH
3. No. 2 under cover
4. Lower No. 2 finish panel
5. Glove compartment door
6. Glove compartment

b. Inspect evaporator temperature sensor resistance. 

Measure resistance between terminals. 

Standard resistance: 1,500 Ohms at 25 °C (77 °F)

If resistance is not as specified, proceed next inspection.

c. Remove the evaporator temperature sensor.

d. Inspect evaporator temperature sensor resistance.

1. Place the sensor in cold water, and while changing the temperature of the water, measure resistance at the connector and at the same time,

measure temperature of the water with a thermometer.

2. Compare the 2 readings on the chart. If resistance value is not as specified, replace the sensor.
