Introduction

To prevent overheating of the engine and transmission when towing a weight of more than 1,000 pounds, the radiator should be replaced with a higher
cooling efficiency unit and a transmission oil cooler should be installed. The radiator transmission oil cooler and required hardware for installation are
available through normal parts supply.

Towing Capacity
^

Up to 2,000 pounds (with transmission cooler installed).

Affected Vehicles
^

All Avalons with A541E Automatic Transmissions.

Refer to the appropriate Repair Manual for removal and installation procedures for replacement of the Radiator Assembly.

NOTE:

DISCONNECT BATTERY TERMINALS AND REMOVE BATTERY PRIOR TO BEGINNING ANY OF THE REMOVAL PROCEDURES.
