Rotor Runout Measurement

Step 1

Rotor runout should be checked with a dial indicator gauge by securely
attaching the base of the dial indicator to the front strut tower. See Illustration 2.

Step 2    

Measure runout at the outer edge of the rotor disc, rotating the rotor

disc and observing the runout of the dial indicator gauge. If runout is less than 0.004 in. (0.1 mm) install new brake pads P/N 04491-32100 with
anti-squeal springs. If runout is greater than 0.004 in. (0.1 mm) but less than .0059 in. (0.15 mm) resurface rotor. Minimum rotor thickness is 0.827 in.
(21 mm), standard rotor thickness is 0.866 in. (22 mm). If rotor runout is greater than 0.0059 in. (1.5 mm) replace rotor. See step 3.

Front Hub Runout Measurement

Step 3   

Measure front hub runout at the most inward position with a dial indicator

gauge. See Illustration 3. Scribe a Phase-match mark on the hub at the lowest point.

Step 4   

When installing new rotors or resurfaced rotors on the vehicle the

rotors must be phased matched to the hub. All replacement rotors P/N 43512-32110 have a phase match mark (oil paint) on the high side of
the rotor.

NOTE:
Care should be taken when removing the protective rust material from the rotors since the mark is an oil paint and will also be removed. Scribe the rotor
on the outer edge and not the rotor surface as this may also cause a brake pedal pulsation.

Step 5   

On new rotors, align the phase match mark to the phase match mark on

the hub. Rotor runout should be less than 0.004 in. (0.1 mm) if runout is greater than 0.004 in. (0.1 mm) reposition the rotor on the hub and
recheck runout. If runout still exceeds specs replace the hub.

Step 6   

On the resurfaced rotor install the rotor to the hub and check rotor

runout. Rotor runout should be less than 0.004 in. (0.1 mm). If runout exceeds 0.004 in. (0.1 mm) replace the hub.
