Condenser Fan: Testing and Inspection

Condenser Fan Motor Inspection

1.

With ignition "ON" but engine not running, neither condenser or radiator fan motor should run.  If they operate check for open circuit at A/C high
pressure switch or water temperature switch.

2.

Start engine and turn A/C switch "ON."  Both fans should operate at low speed (water temperature below 194°F, 90°C).

3.

Temporarily disconnect water temperature or A/C high pressure switch connector.  Both fans should operate at high speed.

4.

Check operation of both fans as described on image chart.
