Disassembly

1.

Using service tool 09631-22020, remove right and left turn pressure lines.

2.

Carefully mount steering gear housing in soft jawed vise, Fig. 18.

3.

Make suitable alignment mark on threaded end of rack, loosen clamp nut and remove tie rod ends from rack ends. Mark left and right tie rod ends
accordingly.

4.

Remove clips, clamps and rack boots.

5.

Bend back claw washers and remove rack end from rack using tools 09612-10092 and 09612-24011 or equivalents. Mark right and left rack ends
and remove claw washers.

6.

Using tool 09612-24011, remove rack guide spring cap locknut and spring cap.

7.

Remove rack guide spring, rack guide and seat.

8.

Remove dust cover.

9.

Remove 3 bolts, then remove control valve housing and O-ring.

10.

Using tool 09612-24011, or equivalent, remove locknut and pinion adjusting cap.

11.

Unstake and remove cylinder end stopper nut, using tool 09612-24012 or equivalent.

12.

Remove 4 bolts, rack housing, and O-ring.

13.

Remove spacer from cylinder housing.

14.

Insert service tool 09630-24012 into cylinder housing up to oil seal lip.

15.

Remove steering rack with stopper, O-ring, wave washer and rack end guide. Remove each part from rack and remove service tool from housing.

Inspection & Assembly

During assembly, coat all moving parts, bearings, and bushings with molybdenum disulfide lithium base grease, and all O-rings and Teflon rings with
