Repair Procedure

NOTE

The Remote Engine Starter (RES) system was designed to operate at temperature ranges above -22°F (-30°C). Follow the procedures below to
determine if RES repair is required.

Condition Diagnosis

Confirm with the customer the following:

1.

Did the engine start when you started it manually with a key or start button?

NO - Check the Troubleshooting section of the vehicle Repair Manual.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

2007 Camry:

2007 Camry HV:

2006 or 2007 RAV4:

2007 Tundra:

YES - Go to step 2.

2.

Was the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) functioning normally? (Did the hazard lights flash when the Lock button was pressed?)

NO - Check the RKE section of the vehicle Repair Manual.

YES - Go to step 3.

3.

Was the temperature surrounding the vehicle below -4°F (-20°C) when the RES did not operate?

NO - Use the RES Troubleshooting Guide to investigate other causes.
