Ball Joint: Service and Repair
Installation

From 03-2006 to 10-2006

SUSPENSION: FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT

(a) Install the front lower ball joint to the steering knuckle with the nut.

Torque: 123 Nm (1,250 kgf-cm, 91ft-lbf)

NOTICE:  Prevent oil from adhering to the screw and tapered parts.

(b) Install a new cotter pin.

NOTICE:  If the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned, tighten the nut further up to 60°.

3. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER See: Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Front Axle Hub/Installation
4. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB See: Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Front Axle Hub/Installation
5. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB HOLE SNAP RING See: Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Front Axle Hub/Installation
6. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL NO. 1 BEARING DUST DEFLECTOR See: Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Front Axle Hub/Installation
7. INSTALL FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY See: Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Front Axle Hub/Installation
8. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER NO. 1 ARM See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints/Axle Shaft

9. CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints/Axle Shaft Assembly/Service

10. INSTALL FRONT DISC See: Brakes and Traction Control/Disc Brake System/Service and Repair/Overhaul/Front/Reassembly
11. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY See: Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Front Axle Hub/Installation
12. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints/Axle Shaft Assembly/Service and

Repair/Removal and Replacement/Installation

13. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB NUT See: Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Front Axle Hub/Installation
14. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY See: Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Front Axle Hub/Installation
15. REMOVE FRONT DISC See: Brakes and Traction Control/Disc Brake System/Service and Repair/Overhaul/Front/Reassembly
16. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS See: Wheel Hub/Testing and Inspection/Front Axle Hub
17. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT See: Wheel Hub/Testing and Inspection/Front Axle Hub
18. INSTALL FRONT DISC See: Brakes and Traction Control/Disc Brake System/Service and Repair/Overhaul/Front/Reassembly
19. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY See: Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Front Axle Hub/Installation
20. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB NUT See: Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Front Axle Hub/Installation
21. CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems/Testing and

22. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76ft-lbf)

23. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT See: Alignment/Service and Repair

From 10-2006

SUSPENSION: FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT

(a) Install the front lower ball joint to the steering knuckle with the nut.

Torque: 123 Nm (1,250 kgf-cm, 91ft-lbf)

NOTICE:  Prevent oil from adhering to the screw and tapered parts.

(b) Install a new cotter pin.

NOTICE:  If the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned, tighten the nut further up to 60°.
