Variable Valve Timing Actuator: Service and Repair
Removal
2GR-FE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY:
REMOVAL
1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
3. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (See: Cooling System/Coolant/Testing and Inspection)
4. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH (See: Wiper and Washer Systems/Wiper Motor/Service and
Repair/Removal)
5. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH (See: Wiper and Washer Systems/Wiper Motor/Service and
Repair/Removal)
6. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH (See: Wiper and Washer Systems/Wiper Motor/Service and Repair/Removal)
7. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH (See: Wiper and Washer Systems/Wiper Motor/Service and Repair/Removal)
8. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See: Wiper and Washer Systems/Wiper Motor/Service and
Repair/Removal)
9. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK (See: Wiper and Washer Systems/Wiper Motor/Service and Repair/Removal)
10. REMOVE COWL TOP PANEL OUTER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 4 bolts, 4 nuts and cowl top panel outer sub-assembly.
11. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal)
12. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal)
13. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET ASSEMBLY (See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal)
14. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY (See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Throttle Body/Service and
Repair/Removal)
15. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal)
16. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET (See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal)
17. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK (See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Injector/Service and
Repair/Removal)
18. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 1 Exhaust Side)
(a) Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
(b) Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve.
(c) Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve.
