Balance Shaft: Service and Repair

REMOVE ENGINE BALANCER

(a)  Uniformly loosen and remove the six bolts in several passes, in the sequence shown.
(b) Remove the engine balancer and spacers.

ENGINE BALANCER DISASSEMBLY

NOTICE: Disassemble the engine balancer only when the backlash at thrust clearance is not within specifications or a malfunction occurs.

1.  CHECK BACKLASH OF BALANCE SHAFT GEARS

(a)  Check that the punch marks D, E and F are at the positions on the No.2 balance shaft indicated in the illustration.
