Throttle Valve Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect throttle cable housing from bracket.

2.

Disconnect throttle cable from throttle linkage.

3.

Remove neutral start switch as follows:
a. Disconnect clip, then the control cable from manual shift lever.
b. Remove manual shift lever.
c. Remove neutral start switch.

4.

Remove valve body as described under VALVE BODY.

5.

Remove bolt and retaining plate, then pull throttle cable out of transaxle.

6.

Install new cable in transaxle case, being sure to push cable all the way in, then install retaining plate and bolt.

7.

Install valve body as described under VALVE BODY.

8.

Install new stopper on inner cable of new throttle cable as follows:
a. Bend cable approximately 7.87 inches in radius.
b. Pull inner cable lightly until a slight resistance is felt, and hold cable in position.

c. Stake stopper on cable .031-.059 inch from end of outer cable, Fig. 3.

9.

Connect throttle cable to throttle linkage.

10.

Connect throttle cable housing to bracket.

11.

Adjust throttle cable as previously described.

12.

Install neutral start switch as follows:
a. Install neutral start switch.
b. Install manual shift lever.
c. Adjust neutral start switch as previously described.
d. Connect transaxle control cable.
e. Adjust transaxle control cable as previously described.

13.

Test drive vehicle.
