Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair

FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE PROCEDURE

CAUTION:

DO NOT smoke during this procedure.

^

Use of protective eye wear is recommended when opening a pressurized fuel fitting.

When disconnecting the fuel high pressure line, a large amount of gasoline will spill out, so observe the following procedures:

Disconnect the fuel pump connector.

Start the engine.

After the engine has stopped on its own, turn the ignition switch to LOCK.

Put a container under the connection.

Slowly loosen the connection.

Toyota recommends using a fuel filter connection for this process.

Disconnect the connection.

-

Plug the connection with a rubber plug.

When connecting the flare nut or union bolt on the high pressure pipe union, observe the following procedures:

Union Bolt Type:

-

Always use 2 new gaskets.

-

Tighten the union bolt by hand.

-

Tighten the union bolt to the specified torque.

Torque: 30 Nm (310 kgf.cm; 21 ft.lb)
