Introduction

1998 deluxe and premium grade audio systems are equipped with an Audio Visual Communication - Local Area Network (AVC-LAN) that standardizes
the audio, visual, switch, and communication data used between the radio, amplifier, cassette player, and CD player/changer. The AVC-LAN standards
allow diagnostic functions and easy product interchangeability.

AVC-LAN Diagnostics

The AVC-LAN system identifies each audio component by a Code Number and the probable cause of the condition by a Diagnostic Trouble Code.
These codes can be accessed by the following procedure:

Activate the Diagnostic Mode

1.

Set the ignition key to the "ON" position and turn the radio "OFF".

2.

While pressing the "1 " and "6" buttons, press the "CD" button 3 times. The Code Number, which identifies the audio components, will display.

Display the Code Numbers of other audio components by using the "TUNE UP" or "TUNE DOWN" button.

Activate the System Check Mode

Press the "1" button to activate the System Check Mode. The system will perform a self-diagnosis, store up to six error codes, and display the first
error code.

Display other error codes by using the "TUNE UP" or "TUNE DOWN" button.

When no errors are detected, "00" will display.

Press "6" to exit this mode.

Activate the Diagnostic Memory Mode

Press the "2" button to activate the Diagnosis Memory Mode. The results of the self-diagnosis performed on the radio and other components
attached to the radio are stored. Up to six error codes are stored in memory and the system displays the first error code.

The other error codes can be displayed by using the "TUNE UP" or "TUNE DOWN" button.

When no errors are detected, "00" will display.

Press "6" to exit this mode.

Erasing the Diagnostic Memory

5.

Pressing the "5" button for 2 seconds will erase the memory.
