1. Start engine and warm-up to normal operating temperature.
2. Check that idle speed is 700 rpm.
3. Remove cap, filter and separator from dash pot.
4. Maintain engine speed at 2,500 rpm with the throttle valve. Use your finger to plug the vacuum transmitting valve (VTV) hole inside DP housing.

5. Release the throttle valve and check DP setting speed.
DP Setting Speed:
2,000 rpm
(w/ Cooling Fan OFF)
6. If not as specified, adjust the DP adjusting screw. Fig. 49
7. Reinstall the separator, the filter (with the coarser side facing outward) and the cap.
8. Race the engine to 2,500 rpm for a few seconds, release the throttle and check that the engine returns to idle slowly within 2 - 6 seconds.
9. If a problem is found, replace the dash pot.
