Valve Body: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation
A140E & A140L
Removal
1.
Raise and support vehicle.
2.
Clean outside of transaxle and drain transmission fluid.
3.
Remove oil pan and gasket, then discard gasket.
4.
Remove two bolts and apply tube bracket.
5.
Remove oil strainer.
6.
On A140E models, disconnect solenoid electrical connectors.
7.
On all models, remove oil tubes.
8.
Remove manual detent spring.
9.
Remove manual valve with valve body.
10.
Remove valve body attaching bolts, disconnect throttle cable from cam, and remove valve body.
11.
Remove governor apply gasket.

Installation
1.
Install new governor apply gasket.
2.
Hold cam down and slip throttle cable end into slot, then install valve body, being careful not to trap kickdown switch wire.
3.
Install valve body attaching bolts in their proper locations, Figs. 4 and 5, finger tighten bolts and tighten to specifications. Numbers in Figs. 4
and 5, indicate bolt lengths in mm.
4.
On A140E models, connect solenoid electrical connectors.
5.
On all models, install manual valve and body as follows:
a. Align manual valve with pin on manual shift lever.
b. Install and finger tighten manual valve body with attaching bolts, Fig. 6. Numbers in Fig. 6 indicate bolt lengths in mm.
c. Tighten bolts to specifications.
6.
Install detent spring, then tighten to specifications.
7.
Ensure manual valve lever is in contact with center of roller at tip of detent spring.
8.
Using suitable plastic hammer, tap oil tubes in proper locations, being careful not to bend or damage oil tubes.
