Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Testing and Inspection

PROCEDURE

1. Using an ohmmeter, measure across the terminals.

Temperature .........  Resistance:

@ -20°C (-4°F) .... 10 - 20  k Ohms
@   0°C (32°F) ... 4.0 - 7.0 k 0hms
@  20°C (68°F) ... 2.0 - 3.0 k Ohms
@  40°C (104°F) .. 0.9 - 1.3 k Ohms
@  60°C (140°F) .. 0.4 - 0.7 k Ohms
@  80°C (176°F) .. 0.2 - 0.4 k Ohms 

If the resistance is not as specified replace the sensor.

NOTE: For engine coolant temperature sensor circuit testing procedures, refer to DTC 22 under the "Trouble Code Charts".
