4.  REMOVE NO.1 BALANCE SHAFT
5.  REMOVE BALANCE SHAFT BEARINGS

ENGINE BALANCER COMPONENTS INSPECTION

1.  INSPECT NO.1 AND NO.2 BALANCE SHAFTS

(a)  Check the bearing journal of the shaft for flaking and scoring.
(b) Check the gear of the shaft for flaking and scoring.

2.  INSPECT BALANCE SHAFT BEARINGS

Check the bearing for flaking and scoring.

3.  INSPECT NO.1 AND NO.2 BALANCE SHAFT HOUSINGS

Check the housing for cranks.

4.  INSPECT BALANCE SHAFT HOUSING BOLTS

Using a vernier caliper. measure the tension portion diameter of the bolt.

Standard outer diameter: 6.5 - 6.7 mm (0.2559 - 0.2638 in.) 
Minimum outer diameter: 6.3 mm (0.2480 in.)

If the outer diameter is less than minimum, replace the bolt.
