A.  Place No.2 balance shaft housing on No.1 balance shaft housing.

Check that punch marks shown in the illustration of the balance shafts are align with the grooves of the No.2 housing.

B.  Install balance shaft housing bolts

HINT:
^  The housing bolts are tightened in two progressive steps.
^  If any housing bolt is broken or deformed, replace it.

(a)  Apply a light coat of engine oil on the threads and under the heads of the housing bolts.

(b) Install and uniformly tighten the nine housing bolts and plate washers in several passes, in the sequence shown.

Torque: 22 N.m (220 kgf.cm. 16 ft.lbf)

If any one of the housing bolts does not meet the torque specification, replace the housing bolt.

(c)  Mark the front of the housing bolt with paint.

(d) Retighten the housing bolts 90° in the numerical order shown.
(e)  Check that the painted mark is now at a 90° angle to the front.
