Intake Air Temperature Sensor: Testing and Inspection

PROCEDURE

1. Inspect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor resistance using an ohmmeter.

Disconnect the IAT sensor connector.

Measure the resistance between the terminals.

Temperature  

Resistance

-20°C (-4°F): 

10  - 20 k Ohms 

0°C (32°F): 

4.0 - 7.0 k Ohms 

20°C (68°F): 

2.0 - 3.0 k Ohms 

40°C (104°F): 

0.9 - 1.3 k Ohms 

60°C (140°F): 

0.4 - 0.7 k Ohms

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the IAT sensor.
