Steering Wheel: Service and Repair

Steering Wheel Replacement.

WARNING: During the following procedures do not store air bag pad face down. If air bag module is dropped, dented or otherwise damaged,
replace with a new part. It is recommended that only new parts be used for replacement. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position during air
bag module removal. Disconnecting the module with switch in ON or ACC position will cause an error code to be stored in air bag system ECU.

Place front wheels in a straight ahead position.

2.

Remove blind hole plugs on back of steering wheel to access Torx mounting screws.

3.

Using a suitable driver, back out Torx screws evenly. They are retained in pad by a cage.

4.

Without pulling on or placing a strain on connector wire, disconnect lead from pad.

5.

Remove retaining nut, then place match marks on steering wheel and column shaft.

6.

Install steering wheel puller tool No. 09950-50010, or equivalent, and press wheel from shaft. Do not strike shaft or puller.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
