Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
Fuel Tank Cap
PURPOSE
The fuel tank cap is sealed by a gasket to prevent vapor escape from the fuel filler.
OPERATION
The fuel tank cap contains a check valve. When pressure inside the tank is high the check valve is closed, forcing fuel vapors into the charcoal
canister. When vacuum inside the fuel tank is high the check valve opens allowing atmospheric air to equalize pressures.
