Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Testing and Inspection

Charcoal Canister Test

1.

Remove charcoal canister.

2.

Visually inspect canister for cracks or damage.

NOTE: Ensure that no activated charcoal comes out. Do not exceed 43 psi through canister.

3.

Using low pressure compressed air, blow into pipe A, ensure air flows without resistance from the other ports.

4.

Blow into pipe B, ensure air does not flow from the other ports.

5.

If a problem is found, replace charcoal canister.

6.

If canister cleaning is required refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES.
