Measure resistance between terminals.

Coolant temp.

Resistance

20°C (68°F)   

2 - 3 k Ohms

80°C (176°F)   

0.2 - 0.4 k Ohms

If OK proceed to step 3.

If not OK replace engine coolant temperature sensor.

3. CHECK FOR OPEN OR SHORT IN HARNESS AND CONNECTOR BETWEEN ECM AND ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE

SENSOR.

If OK Check and replace ECM.

If not OK Repair or replace harness or connector.
